Winter ski season..

Skiing.

Mayrhofen has 160klms of marked piste with snow Guarantee and loads of fun. Lots of snow cannons in the Mayrhofen skiing area form the largest snowmaking system in the Ziller Valley. Even when little snow has fallen, they offer unspoilt ski fun and super pistes. The ski-run called "Harakiri" is the steepest, groomed run in Austria and is only recommend for excellent skiers. Many pistes are suitable for cruising, carving and relaxing skiing. With the resorts special circuit recommendations it allow's every skier to experience this large and outstanding skiing area. Also the resort operates a team of Infoscouts who are willing to help all guests with any questions. The resort aims to offer guest care at the highest level with a friendly and competent team.

Snowboarding and Freestyle.

The Vans Penken Park is situated in Horberg-Hochtal in the Penken area. This area has been voted one of the best Parks in Europe over the last few seasons. The Park has been an important factor in the Austrian freestyle scene for the last six years. Many Austrian and international pro's call the Vans Penken Park their home and can be regularly seen shredding  there. Due to the parks southward facing slope it gets plenty of sunshine and softer landings in the late season. The lift runs over the park, giving a perfect view of the action. It has the same length as the park so when doing rounds in the park, you lose no time on the piste. There are kickers / hips, boxes / rails and a halfpipe, so there is a jump and a jib for everyone.

Come shred the gnar in one of the best parks in the Alps and be sure to say hello to the hardworking shapers in the park.

Cross Country Skiing

In Mayrhofen and Hippach you will find cross-country tracks with a total length of 30 kilometres. There is an information board at the beginning of each track, telling you exactly where you are. A track plan can be obtained from the local Tourist Office.

 

Summer Activities and Sports.

Many of the Hotels have tennis courts for there guests use and from various beaches in the area it is possible to arrange various water sports including sailing, windsurfing, cannoes, small boats and hobie cats all are available for rent. There are also horse riding stables that offer lovely treks through the local countryside and gokarts are also available on the edge of the resort.

Run and Walk Park Mayrhofen/Hippach

Mayrhofen is an all-round holiday paradise with about 200 km of well-made footpaths. This summer the popular holiday destination in the upper Zillertal is offering visitors a particularly attractive selection of running and walking opportunities with the new Run & Walk Park.

Surrounded by the Zillertal’s imposing mountain landscape, fitness orientated holidaymakers can let off steam on a total of eight different routes. The running and Nordic walking routes have been designed for sport, but also go through particularly peaceful and unspoilt countryside around Mayrhofen and Hippach. As one of the most challenging mountain runs in Tyrol, the “Harakiri” Hill with its 78 percent gradient is without doubt the real showpiece of the Run & Walk Park. This gem of a route presents a special challenge even for fit, experienced runners who are familiar with the terrain.

Restaurants and evening entertainment

The area has a great selection of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Mayrhofen hotels have visited a number of restaurants in and around the area that have a good reputation and offer value plus quality. However, there are many to choose from and many new establishments that open every year that once in the resort just ask the locals for recommendations.

Tiroler Stuben

Located in the centre of Mayrhofen, this restaurant offers good quality Austrian menu with live music and dancing most nights. Lively atmosphere for visitors and locals alike.

Cafe Tirol

On the main street in Mayrhofen and offers good quality Tirolean menu. Great steaks and various other meat dishes. Sensible prices.

Bruggerstube

Great value restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the village. Good quality food at reasonable prices. Menu of the day [ Tag menu ] is a bargain around 10 - 12 euro 3 course. Plus drinks

Nightlife.

Mayrhofenhas some great apre ski and nightlife. Straight after skking head for one of the apre ski bars for a great atmosphere. The fun starts everyday around 3.30pm and goes on until dinner time. Apres Slis in Mayrhofen can only be described as wild. Try the Ice Bar and Nikki's Schirmbar as you come off the slopes. Both Get Packed out. Boarders head for Scotland Yard which is a british style pub with a selection of beers on tap. As the evening goes on many boarders head down to the Apropos bar to carry on into the night. The Sporthotel Strass has a wild apres ski scene, gets packed every afternoon at both the inside and outside bar. As the evening goes on it fills to the rafters from 9.30pm onwards. The town has two main clubs/discos The Sports Arena and Schlusselalm both get going from around mid-night. Mayrhofen can proove to be as exhausting of the slopes as on.
